YWAM worldwide
Youth with a Mission is a global movement of Christians united in a common purpose to know God and make him known. Over 18’000 staff (known as YWAMers) from different age groups, denominations, and backgrounds are serving Jesus in over 180 countries in different ways in the areas of
- Evangelism
- Mercy Ministries
- Training - University of the nations
Although we have a global network of leaders, we do not have an international administrative headquarters. Our decentralized structure encourages multicultural leadership and the exploration of new ways to change lives.
All YWAMers around the world are united with common YWAM values, principles and convictions.
YWAM history
Everything started in 1960. Loren Cunningham, a young pastor from the USA, had a vision. He saw waves of young people sharing the gospel all over the world. Loren, together with his wife Darlene, began to champion young Christians and mobilize them for missions. Youth with a Mission (YWAM) was born. What started out small and unconventional, turned into a large global movement. The stunning history of YWAM can be read in the book Is That Really You, God?.
Loren went to be with Jesus on October 6, 2023 at the age of 88. Here you can read more about his life and the amazing legacy he left behind.
